Teaching english and other activities such as sports.
As a volunteer your contribution in Rio de Janeiro is highly needed. The people living in the underprivileged communities, unfortunately have high levels of unemployment, basic living conditions, lack of health, violence, homelessness and lots more. Your role will be to provide teaching within these favelas, you will be teaching English language, computer skills or even arts and crafts. Useful skills these people can use to acquire a job in the future.
In your spare time you are free to explore Rio de Janeiro and all the sites for you to see. Explore neighbouring areas or even just kick back and relax at the beach. Brazil is your home for your few weeks at Camp Brazil, experience it to the greatest you can.
On your first day be met by a Camp Brazil met and transferred to your new home for the next few weeks.
Your typical day includes an hour and half commute from the accommodation to the favela in the form of a metro and then a bus, with the metro being close to the hostel. Your working week is part time, consisting of 10-20 hours a week, with more available if you wish.
The activities available are English teaching, IT, manual labour projects, youth athletic programs, urban gardens, tutoring and arts and mural painting. Just let us know what you want to do and we will be able to work around your preferences.
The rest of your time during the day and at weekends is yours to explore the vibrant culture of Rio or go on weekend trips.

Basic Portuguese is required. If you don't currently speak Portuguese we suggest a few basic classes before your arrival to make it easier to communicate.
This project is for volunteers who are outgoing and independent. The favelas can be challenging places so you need to be laid back and go with the flow.
The majority of our volunteers come on their own and leave with a handful of new best friends which they stay in contact with for years. Sharing an experience like this with others, you'll make friends with others almost instantly.
Yes, there will be Wi-Fi available for you to use whilst you are at your accommodation. Please remember that Wi-Fi connection in other areas of the world may not be as strong as you had hoped. It is best to bring an unblocked phone with you so that you can get a local sim with data to use for your trip.
Stage 1: Apply! We need certain information so we can assess your application. Once you have applied for Camp Brazil one of our lovely team member will be in contact. They will give you all the required information, answer any questions you may have, and tell you about their amazing personal experiences at Camp Brazil.
Stage 2: If accepted onto the program, all you need to do to secure your place is pay a £99 deposit. This confirms your spot and you don’t need to pay the remaining balance until 4 weeks before you leave to Camp Brazil.
Once your deposit is paid we will send you a welcome document, confirming your place and giving you next step information, detailing everything we need to organise before you arrive.
Flights and Insurance
We will then pass you over to our flight partners. They will be in touch to help you arrange these and give you some great deals. Once you do book your flights remember to send us your itinerary so we can arrange your pick up.
Visa & Vaccines
You will have to make sure you have the correct visa and required vaccines for your Camp Brazil placement. We will be in contact at the appropriate time to advise.
