Ready to get seriously hands on and make a difference? Camp Cambodia is a magical country and our project takes you to some beautiful places. Camp Cambodia opened it's own school in 2016 after we discovered that it had to close in 2013, due to lack of funding. Camp Cambodia supports the school year round for over 300 children, where you will have the opportunity to teach. This is all combined with elephant conservation, trips to waterfalls, nights out on pub street and a day trip to watch the sunrise over the Unesco world heritage site, Angkor Wat. Sounds amazing right? We thought so... keep reading.
Also known as the Kingdom of Cambodia, or the land of smiles, Cambodia is a country full of history and natural beauty. Despite a dark past, the Cambodian people are some of the happiest you will ever meet and truly cherish life. Wherever you go they greet you with warm smiles. Cambodia has such interesting history, which you will learn about during your time at Camp Cambodia. It screams culture, especially your trip to the incredible Angkor Wat, the largest historical religious site in the world.
Many of the schools we work with in Cambodia are extremely poor and Camp Cambodia does as much as it can to help. In 2016, we raised over £2000 to donate a playground to two local schools and contributed funds to facilitate the re-opening of 'My Grandfather's School', a school in the local area. 'My Grandfather's School' is a homestay experience, so you will be staying in rural Cambodia in converted quarters in the school. This is a truly unique experience, so prepare to give up the western lifestyle for a few days and go back to basics. You'll also have the chance to help renovate, paint and improve the school. Remember, during your stay, you won't only be teaching - you will also be caring for elephants at the sanctuary.
Camp Cambodia is one of the most hands on programmes we run with some of the best activities included, so when trying to choose which Camp to go to, this should be a serious consideration. Seeing the sun sparkle over the waterfall you visit, or rise over the temples at Angkor Wat at 6:00am, is a sight you could never forget. Moreover, the teaching is so rewarding and you will truly be making a positive impact. Camp Cambodia is based in Siem Reap, so we'll ensure you have some incredible nights out on the infamous "Pub Street." Camp Cambodia is ran by our legendary manager called "Nana." Famous for his dance moves, he never stops smiling and loves making sure everyone has the time of their lives. Come and live our philosophy, "work hard, party hard and make a positive impact!"
