The actual volunteering takes place on an island near by Cartagena, called "Tierra Bomba," a tiny yet very poor island only 15 minutes by boat. The main industries on the Island are fishing or tourism, both of which are seasonal, meaning the locals struggle to earn year round. Camp Colombia organises many activities to help the children in the area, such as; teaching English, coaching sports, water sport activity programs, beach clean ups, organising dance talent shows. Basically you can get involved with anything that will contribute on the Island and it's such a rewarding experience as it's a chance for you to get really hands on with the local children and community.
Each day is different meaning you can get involved in a variety of activities. Camp Colombia runs out of a water sports centre on the Island which is where everything is organised each morning. The average day is usually four hours work then you have the rest of the day to relax and enjoy all the things on offer in the local area.

If you have a special skill we'd love to hear about it! If it's possible it could be great on the Island!
